Both are supported. JesRecap builds on audio interfaces that ship with Windows itself, so there is no separate runtime to chase down.
Nothing extra to install
No virtual audio cable, no Stereo Mix setting to hunt for in the sound control panel, no kernel-mode driver. The standard installer puts down one app.
Room for your recordings
Meetings are stored locally as WAV files with a SQLite database alongside them. Both source tracks are kept so you can retranscribe later, so audio is what uses the disk.

Windows already has a supported way to read back the audio it is playing. JesRecap uses exactly that.
It reads the output you already hear
Loopback capture asks the Windows audio stack for a copy of the mix heading to your speakers or headphones. That copy becomes the system-audio track — the other people in the call, on their own file.
No driver, no Stereo Mix
Older recording tricks needed a virtual audio device or a Stereo Mix input that many machines do not expose. Loopback is part of Windows, so JesRecap works on a stock PC with nothing added to your audio devices.
Your microphone stays separate
Microphone capture runs independently, so your voice never gets folded into the other side. Two clean tracks are what make speaker labels and readable transcripts possible; the mixed playback file is produced afterwards.
Local means local
Captured audio is written to disk on your PC and transcribed there with a Whisper-family model. JesRecap has no upload path for meeting content — the only network calls are the one-time model download and license activation.
Installing it
Download the .msi
Grab the preview installer. Because these are early builds, Windows may show a warning before it lets an unfamiliar installer run.
Run the installer
Standard Windows install — pick a location, let it finish, and JesRecap appears in your Start menu. Suitable for scripted rollout too; see enterprise deployment.
Start your first recording
Open JesRecap and press record. Windows asks for microphone access the first time. Loopback capture of your output needs no additional prompt.
What you get after the meeting
Two tracks plus a mix
A microphone WAV, a system-audio WAV, and a mixed playback file. Export any of the three.
A local transcript
Whisper-family models run on your PC. The model downloads once from models.jesrecap.com and is reused. A live transcript during the meeting is optional.
Speaker labels
Applied after recording by a local diarization model — a one-time 54 MB download — telling you apart from the other voices.
Meeting actions
One click copies a ready-made prompt with the transcript included, for you to paste into whichever AI you already use.
Exports
Markdown notes, plain text, a JSON archive, SRT and VTT captions, and the WAV audio.
A searchable library
Every recording stays in the sidebar and can be transcribed again whenever you like.
Windows questions
Do I need to install a virtual audio driver?
No. WASAPI loopback is part of Windows, so JesRecap records your output without adding a device to your sound settings. Nothing is installed except the app.
Which meeting apps work?
All of them, because JesRecap does not integrate with any of them. If the audio plays on your PC — Zoom, Teams, Meet, Webex, a Slack huddle, a browser tab — it gets recorded. In-person conversations are captured through the microphone alone.
Will other participants be notified?
No bot joins and no meeting service is told anything. Which means letting the other side know you are recording is on you, and you should.
What if I use Bluetooth headphones or a USB headset?
Loopback follows the output device Windows is currently using, and microphone capture follows your selected input, so headsets and Bluetooth devices are recorded like any other. Live meters in the app show both sources so you can confirm before you start.
Why does Windows warn me about the installer?
Preview builds are new and unfamiliar to Windows reputation checks, so SmartScreen can flag them. Download only from this site, and check the releases page to see which build is current.
Does it run offline?
Yes, once a speech model has been downloaded and your license is activated. Recording, transcription and speaker labels then need no connection at all.
Can I use one license on my work PC and my home PC?
